- Is Spirit 1.0 Plus more expensive than a 3HP gas-engine outboard?
- The purchase cost is normally hundreds of Euro more than a 3HP gas-engine outboard. However, the overall 5-year cost is quite similar, considering the maintenance and gasoline cost. For details, you could refer to this blog.
- How to choose your shaft length?
- Find out the transom height first. You could choose a short shaft for transom height between 30-40 cm, and a long shaft between 40-60 cm. There’s an extra short version for special boats and shallow water use. You could refer to this blog for details.
- Most inflatables and dinghies under 4.5m work with a short shaft Spirit 1.0 Plus. For sailboats like J/70, Melges 24 and SB20, sailors should purchase according to the height of the outboard mount bracket.
- Can I use Spirit 1.0 Plus in the saltwater?
- Yes, all ePropulsion motors can be used in saltwater. We have two-layer anti-corrosion design on high-quality corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy. After each saltwater use, you just flush the outboard with fresh water. For more information, you could refer to this blog.
- How should I keep the battery in good health? Especially during the off season.
- For long-term storage, it’s recommended to keep the state-of-charge between 40% to 60%. Check the battery level every two months and charge it if lower than 40%. The self-discharge is normal because the BMS is working.
- How can I travel at an economical throttle?
- Basically, you avoid the full throttle. You will gain much more range when you go a little bit slower. You could refer to the performance table below.
At full throttle, you get 10 kmph and 75-min runtime. The range is 12.5 km. If you reduce your throttle to 25%, which is 250 Watts, you will get 7.1 kmph. Now you could go 35 km, which is almost triple the range of full throttle. For a short distance, it’s ok to go 7 kmph for a longer runtime. You could check this blog for more information.
